Questions of the day #1

In an ongoing effort to find out what my clients are looking for and create a business that will meet their needs I have decided to start a question of the day/week series. I would love it if you would chime in and share your opinions on everything. Not only will it help me find out what you are looking for, it will help you to receive the best possible portrait experience.

So todays QUESTION OF THE DAY:

Why do people purchase 4×6 prints rather than 5×7 or 8×10?

I have been analyzing my business and am really interested in the theories behind what my clients do. Do they buy 4×6′s because they are the cheapest? because they like them for albums? because that is the size they like to display? or some other reason. I have noticed a trend of people buying a whole bunch of 4×6′s and not a lot else.

What do you think? What is the appeal for a 4×6 print?

2011 is going to be Great!!

Happy New Year!!!

Where do I even begin with all of the things that I want to do in 2011? I have so many goals and ideas that I am about to explode. So I guess the first thing to do is get them all organized start prioritizing right?!? Yeah, easier said than done. So I have decided to just take it one step at a time and go from there.

Right now my big project is updating my website and blog. I am almost done with the website and can’t wait to share it with you all. It is a custom site, so no templates and cookie cutter look just like everyone else has. And the best part is that it is all HTML so I should be able to jump up on the google listings. That’s one of the hardest things for me, getting my name out there. Hopefully between the new website and blogging more (which is one of my goals, but we shall see how well I do with that LOL) the word will get out.

The addition of the new Studio in 2010 was an awesome experience and I am so glad that I made the decision. As I type this, I have new light being delivered that should take my work to a whole new level and I am really pumped to learn them and start creating amazing images for all of my clients.

I’m also in the process of implementing some new policies to help stream line the whole process from beginning to end. That’s another one of my goals for this year…Improve my communication skills. I hope to be more informative and keep in constant contact with my clients so that there are no questions and everyone feels like they have all of the information that they need.

There are a whole plethora of other things that I want to do, but I will stick with those for right now. Otherwise, I will get overwhelmed and never get anything done. So keep checking back to see what projects I am working on and what chaos I have managed to create for myself. :-)

I hope you all have an amazing year full of blessings, and I will let you know as soon as the new site is live so that you can check it out and tell me what you think.

Love,
Tina

Open House Was A Success!!!

The Open House on Saturday was a huge success. Thanks to all of the hard work put in by my wonderful Momma and Brilliant Husband, everything went smoothly and we had a great turn out. (despite the fact that I was dumb enough to plan the open house on the same weekend as the Harrisville Ice Cream Social, the Parkersburg Homecoming, The last weekend of summer, and a nice rain storm). I enjoyed getting to talk to current clients and great friends and meeting all of the new people that stopped in the check the place out. Thank you everyone for your support!!! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for my growing business.

I did a drawing to give away some great prizes. The winners are as follows:

1 Free Outdoor Session – Cassie McCloy
1 Free Indoor Session – George Doll
$200 of of any Wedding Package – Jessica Sandy
1 Free 11×14 Gallery Wrap Canvas – Terry Jean Nichols (I’m still laughing about this one…My Mother-in-law is a hoot!!)
$100 Print Credit – Chyanna Hilkey
$100 Print Credit – Renae Henning
$100 Print Credit – Marilyn Spiker

Plus anyone who stopped by Saturday gets a 10% discount on any session fee.

Now that the excitement is over, I’m ready to get back to work creating beautiful images for my clients. Thanks again, and for those of you who didn’t have a chance to make it out for the Open House, feel free to stop by any time. (I’m pretty sure we will have food left over for months!!) Hope you all Have a Great Day!!

The Williams Family

I recently had a session with two of the most adorable little girls ever (other than my two of course). At the beginning of the session I found out that their Daddy is currently deployed and I immediately felt such a connection to this family. As the time went on and I talked to mom some, I found out that we have quit a bit in common, in fact it is pretty freaky how much we have in common. Turns out that the parents we married in October of 2002 and so were my husband and I. And they have 2 little girls (duh) born in 2005 and 2008 just like my girls, in fact the littlest one was born only six days after my littlest one. Their Daddy is a Mechanic in the National Guard, just like my husband and believe it or not, his dad served in the army with my husbands dad. WHOA pretty freaking huh?!? Oh yeah did I forget to mention that their dad’s name is Terry and my husbands name is Jerry. (I have no clue why I am sharing this, other than the fact that I think it’s pretty cool and I am just random like that)

Anyway, We had a blast at the session and I can’t wait to see them again. In the meantime, their family will be in my thoughts and prayers while they are missing their daddy. I know exactly what they are going through and my heart goes out to them as well as all of the families waiting for their soldiers to come home.

Thanks Williams family for spending the afternoon with me.

August Special #1 – Back to school

High School Seniors aren’t the only ones who deserve awesome pictures. We all know that we get the typical ordinary school pictures every year, and most of the time we just stick with that, but why not do something special for your kids(and yourself), no matter how old they are, and get unique portraits that capture what your kids are really all about instead of getting the same old pictures that look like everyone else’s. Our babies grow way too fast and this is the perfect way to create memories of their childhood that you can cherish for a lifetime!!

Schedule an appointment between now and August 31st and not only will you get amazing pictures of your kids, but you will also get 10% off on your sitting fee AND print package!!

Have more than 1 kid?? No worries, you can apply this offer to any session including family sessions and get pictures of each of your kids plus pictures of them all together. Believe it or not, I can even get them all to get along and smile. There is something about getting to be the center of attention that puts all kids in a good mood. Combine that with the fact that I am just a big kid myself and can relate to them all so well, and you end up with a fun filled and relaxed photo experience that will only add to the great memories we will capture.

Call or send me a message Schedule your session now. School will be here before we know it!!

Melisa & Jason – June 26th 2010

This was the winning wedding from the Parkersburg Art Center Bridal Show in January. The minute I met Melisa at the show, I knew I wanted to photograph her wedding and I was ecstatic when she won the door prize and booked me. Melisa’s energy was contagious and I literally looked forward to this wedding all year. After a fun engagement session where the couple allowed me to drag them out in the freezing cold in March, I knew they would be a blast on their wedding day, and I was right. The couple (and their whole wedding party) was all smiles the whole day and you could tell how much they loved one another. After a beautiful ceremony in the Gallery on the first floor of the art center, we went outside for some fun shots and then moved upstairs to the banquet hall where Alec Ortiz and his dad Rodney of Cross Over DJ got the party going. One of the most amazing things about this wedding was seeing Melisa & Jason interact with each other and their family. I love being able to capture those special moments and want to thank Mr. & Mrs. Haught for allowing me to be a part of their day. Thanks guys and Congratulations!!!

It’s all about the organization

In continuing with my site optimization and new business plan, I have decided to host my blog right along with my website. Hopefully this will make it easier for people to switch between the two and will make everything more streamline.  I know that I just got the original blog started and am probably going to confuse the heck out of everyone (including myself), but at least I am doing it now and getting all of the kinks worked out from the beginning.  Thanks for your patience!!!  I promise I am almost done with the Big changes and it will be well worth all of the chaos in the end.  So you may want to update your bookmarks (haha don’t I think I’m important) to the new blog address

Oh and you may want to check back often because I am going to be adding some pictures of the new studio, announcing the grand opening, and updating a lot of other information in the coming days.  Plus I am going to announce the winner of the contest too.   Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Love, Tina

Help Me Decorate My New Studio!!!!

I am excited to announce that I now have a photography studio in Ellenboro, WV (don’t freak out, it’s only 30 minutes from Parkersburg and highway all the way). After a lot of hard work, we are just about ready to open for business. My last task is to decorate and I thought I would enlist my friends to help me with that job. I need to decide what photographs to get printed to hang and would love it if you would all vote for your favorites and help me make this tough decision. All you have to do is scroll down through the images (I will apologize now for adding so many, I just couldn’t make up my mind) and you can either leave me a comment telling me which ones you like the best or click on an individual images and leave a comment there. As a big thank you for taking the time to vote, everyone who leaves a comment will be entered to win a Free Portrait Sitting!!

Thanks for your help, Tina

Jennifer & Nathan

I recently had the privilege of working with a beautiful couple, Jennifer & Nathan on their wedding day. We started the day with pictures at the Lafayette Hotel in Marietta, OH where everyone was getting ready. After a few shots on the roof of the hotel with an amazing view of the river, we hopped on the trolly and went on a tour of the city. I love these fun groups that are up for anything and are willing to explore the city for fun locations to shoot. During our little adventure we visited a great little alley on one of the brick side streets, and a lovely garden that happened to be in some lady’s backyard (thank you to the trolley driver for finding that spot and to the home owner for not calling the cops on us when we let ourselves through the gate and onto her property) After a quick stop at the local Speedway for some ice and a potty break, we made our way to the Historic Turtle Mound for the ceremony. The couple was showered with streamers from the “confetti cannon” provided by their wedding planner Marcia Stewart as they walked back down the isle after the ceremony. We then headed back to the Lafayette for a night of fun and dancing. I had an amazing time with this couple…wait scratch that…with the entire wedding party. They have such a close nit group of family and friends and you could just tell how much they all loved each other. Everyone was all smiles the whole night and I feel honored that I got to meet them all and be a part of their special day.

Congratulations Jennifer & Nathan!!

Thank you so much for including me in your day and helping me create so many fun (and unique) images.
